This one day workshop is suitable for beginners familiar with a sewing machine (simple straight stitch is all that is needed) and basic hand stitching.
Christine has developed a style of hand and machine patchwork that is very accessible and rewarding, borrowing from Japanese Boro work. The workshop will include an introduction to Boro and a practical project, a phone or glasses case.
Derived from Japanese boro, meaning something tattered or repaired, boro refers to the practice of patching and repatching domestic textiles, clothes and bedding, to extend their use. You will create a boro influenced panel that can be made into a phone or glasses case, or you might want to make a larger piece.
