Patchwork - simple squares
Have you had a hankering to learn how to patchwork but were too nervous.
Start simple with this one day course that will show you how to cut and stitch squares together to create a panel that becomes a cushion cover.
Once you have mastered the basics you will want to try out mixing and matching your squares and experimenting with different fabric patterns.
You will learn:
- how to select fabrics that work together
- how to use a quilting rule and rotary cutter to create perfectly cut squares
- how to stitch them together using a sewing machine and a technique called chainstiching
- how to add a backing and wadding
- how to finish off your item neatly
You will need:
- A selection of non stretchy 100% cotton fabrics. These could be scraps or you could buy a selection at the Maker Space.
- Fabric for backing
We'll provide white thread in the sewing machines - if you wish to use an alternative please bring it with you (or you can purchase on the day).
Suitable for all levels.
