We hear this a lot. Our fabulous cafe occupies the original bar and lounge of a 300 year old inn, where carefully renovated original features blend with a modern, simple, hand-crafted interior. Complimented by a glorious garden, this setting teams up with our wonderful staff and customers to create a lovely, relaxed atmosphere.

We serve a delicious breakfast and lunch menu, sublime locally roasted coffee and speciality teas, alongside home-made cakes and savouries fast becoming part of local legend.

FAQ
- When are you open?
  
  The Cafe & Store are open 9am until 4pm, every day.
- Are you open in the evenings?
  
  We don't open in the evenings currently, other than for special events or scheduled workshops.
- Do you have an outdoor area?
  
  Yes, we have a lovely, large terrace and garden to the rear of the building. Part of the terrace is covered too, so good for shade and shelter year round.
- Are you licensed for alcohol sales?
  
  Yes, we are licensed from 11.00am.
- Do I need to book or reserve a table?
  
  We don't take reservations as we like to make sure people dropping by can be accommodated. We have plenty of tables throughout the building, and we've not had to turn anyone away yet. If you are a large group, then it's worth contacting us before your visit and we can then set aside an area if necessary.
- Do you accept larger groups of people?
  
  We do yes. We do ask that large groups pre-order with us from the menu a few days in advance so we can prepare more fully. Get in touch via hello@themakerspace.co.uk to discuss.
- Do you offer gluten free options?
  
  Yes, we carry Gluten free bread so most of our sandwich options can be offered gluten free. We usually have cake options and our brownies are gluten free as well.
- Do you have vegan and vegetarian options?
  
  Our soup is always vegetarian, sometimes vegan. We keep vegan spreads too, so some of our sandwiches can be offered as vegan or vegetarian. We usually have vegan cakes too.
- What allergens are in your food?
  
  Please speak to a member of staff about the ingredients in your meal when placing your order. All our food is prepared in a kitchen where known allergens are present. We regularly use ingredients containing celery, cereals containing gluten, crustaceans, eggs, fish, milk, mustard, peanuts, sesame, soybeans, sulphur dioxide and sulphites and tree nuts (almonds, walnuts, pecans, hazelnuts, pistachios, hazelnuts). Trace elements of these allergens may be present in all food served.
- What alternative milk options to you have?
  
  We usually have Oat, Soya and Almond milks alongside our full cream and semi-skimmed dairy options.
- How accessible is The Maker Space if I'm in a wheelchair?
  
  We're working hard to make the venue as user-friendly and accessible as we can. However, as a 300 year old listed building with some steps and narrow doorways its not as simple as it should be unfortunately. We can accommodate wheelchairs in our cafe, and in our ground floor workroom which has access to the garden too. We have ramped access to a large toilet cubicle that is being converted to be fully accessible too.
- Are there toilets available?
  
  We have toilets yes, one of which is large enough for wheelchair access.
- Do you have baby chairs and baby changing facilities?
  
  We do yes.
- Can you park at The Maker Space?
  
  Yes, we have parking to the front and rear of the venue. It can get busy so we do ask that you park nice and close to other cars to maintain as much space as possible for others please.
- Can I use the car park and go off for a walk before or afterwards?
  
  We can't help here unfortunately. As we have limited space and need to maintain access across the site at all times, we do have to restrict parking to customers being on site. There are other options nearby for parking whilst walking, so we hope that helps.
- Are dogs allowed?
  
  Most definitely. We love dogs here at The Maker Space. Always welcome throughout the venue other than some restrictions on muddy tails near colourful fabrics in the store! Dogs do need to keep their parents on a lead please.
- What about horses?
  
  Not inside!
- Do you allow biker clubs or car groups?
  
  Yes certainly. We encourage classic cars, cool bikes, clubs and groups. Just drop in, or if there's a larger number, get in touch in advance to discuss how best we can accommodate you.
- Do you have any tools to repair a puncture on my bicycle?
  
  We keep various tools and repair kits yes, just ask.
- Where do you get your cakes from?
  
  We bake them here. Sausage rolls and cheese scones too.
- Is Jon really only 34 years old?
  
  Possibly not.
- Your coffee is amazing, can I buy some to take home?
  
  We're working on this. If you need some for home, do ask and we'll see if our lovely supplier can help.
- Can I hire The Maker Space for a private event?
  
  We don't generally offer the venue for private events, and we certainly couldn't hire out the cafe space during the day as we wouldn't abandon our customers in that way. Our first floor workroom is available for work off-site meetings and presentations or our private group workshops, and we're considering evening options for the venue at the moment, so do get in touch if you have something in mind, and we can discuss.
- Do you offer outside catering for events?
  
  Sorry no, we don't have the facilities to cater in such a way.

We're located directly on The Ridgeway National Trail, at the top of the hill in Nuffield. We have lots of other fabulous walks on our doorstep too. Local Walks

We sit on top of the hill here in Nuffield, high up in the Chilterns. You'll have earned that flapjack or cake, and can start your journey home with an easy downhill stretch!

We have some amazing roads to explore nearby. Make us a stop on your run out, and show off your pride and joy. We always try to cater for clubs and groups, give us a call to discuss.

SOS? We keep blister plasters, tools, pump, puncture repair kits, zip ties, fuel can etc here for those little emergencies. Dog treats and bags too. Just ask!

A Mobile Maker Space.

We're taking The Maker Space on the road. The creation of our trailer is featured on Sarah Beeny's New Country Lives. Broadcast Channel 4 - 5pm, 8th June 2023 and on Catchup.

Our pop-up foodie events.

Cooking is craft too, so we're opening our space to creators of delicious, interesting and innovative food. We plan to hold a number of pop-up garden parties, supper clubs or perhaps the odd menu sampling throughout the year.
