Introducing
The Maker Space HQ

We love making things...

And we wanted a place where
you could make things too.

We found an old pub - The Crown in Nuffield, Oxfordshire - who's over 300 years old, Grade 2 listed and, after laying empty for 8 years, was in a pretty sorry state. So, in the middle of a global pandemic, we decided to bring her back to life, re-imagined as The Maker Space.

And now she's home to our newly opened cafe & garden, serving hot and cold drinks, amazing cakes, snacks, wine, beer, prosecco and the odd G&T. We'll soon be adding breakfast & lunch menus - so watch this space.

We're still busy converting the adjoining barn space into our craft workroom where we'll be holding classes and selling supplies and handmade gifts. Upstairs, we'll have an event space perfect for kids birthday parties, private events and workshops.

She's going to make a great venue for the creative hub we hope to create here - crafts, cake, coffee and the odd craft beer or two.

The Maker Space at The Crown Gangsdown Hill, Nuffield, Henley-on-Thames RG9 5SJ hello@themakerspace.co.uk 01491 642300 Cafe now open 7 days a week, 9am - 4pm

WORKROOMS

We passionately believe there is a craft for everyone so we're busy transforming our adjoining barn into a bright, open space where you can learn to make something beautiful.

With classes such as quilting, beading, dressmaking, leatherwork and silversmithing (to name a few) we're sure to have something for you.

If you've got an idea for a class or are interested in teaching for us we'd love to hear from you.

STORE

We're curating the very best tools, supplies and kits, so whether you're looking for modern fabrics, embroidery supplies or quality tools we have (or can get) everything you need.

If you're looking for a handmade gift, check out our selection of goods from UK makers.

At the moment we're online only but as soon as the building works are completed why not come and visit us in person. In the meantime, if there is something specific you are looking for, or you need a bit of advice, please get in touch or drop into the cafe and we'll do our best to help.

CAFE

Housed in the original 17th Century pub, our cafe is a lovely spot for coffee, cake and a catch up (oh, and maybe a glass of something as, yes, we're licensed). We're sourcing as much as we can from local producers as we're firm believers in simple food made with the best ingredients.*

We are dog friendly (we're pug parents), walker friendly (we're on The Ridgeway), cyclist friendly (plenty of space for bikes and proper flapjacks!) and we have a large, enclosed garden perfect for the kids.

* We'll soon be adding breakfast, brunch and lunch but in the meantime, here's our coffee shop menu.
