Foundation Paper Piecing (FPP) involves taking pieces of fabric and sewing directly onto a paper template to create interesting and precise designs in patchwork.
In this beginner workshop we will be walking you through your very first steps into this fantastic technique and give you the knowledge required to continue your journey into FPP. Together we will piece three 6.5” blocks which will enable you to gradually build up your confidence and understanding of this technique. We will also be attaching the blocks to wadding and using a self-binding technique to turn these sample blocks into coasters or potholders.
You will need to bring (not included in class cost):
- 3-4 Fat Quarters or 6-8 Fat Eighths / 2” strips or scraps can also be used.
- Backing Fabric 3 x 9” Squares – this can be cut from the above fabric, or you may like to use one Fat Quarter for all backings.
(All the above can be purchased from in our store on the day if needed.)
Included in class cost:
- 3 pieces of wadding measuring 6.5” square

In booking a place on one of our classes you confirm that you have read and agree to all terms and conditions set out below.
All workshops must be paid in full at time of booking in order to secure your place.
All bookings are non-refundable and non-cancellable. We will however, where we can, offer a store credit (redeemable on future classes or store goods) if you notify us no less than one calendar month before the scheduled workshop date. This store credit is valid for a period of 12 months from the date of issue. We are unable to make any exceptions to this policy, regardless of customer reason.
In order for a workshop to go ahead we require a minimum number of attendees due to the costs incurred by us in hiring tutors, purchasing class supplies/equipment etc... If for any reason the class is cancelled by us (due to unforeseen circumstances) we will offer you a full refund or a place on the class the next time it is scheduled. If you decide to move onto a future class our offer of a refund is withdrawn and these cancellation policies apply to the new booking (i.e. if you are subsequently unable to attend your new class date a refund does not apply).
